چکیده

Material and methods Three pressure mats (FSA, Vista Medical, Winnipeg) were placed on the Jackson frame before positioning the patient. Data was continuously recorded during surgery and the average and maximum pressures on the chest, left and right hip/thigh region was calculated (Figure 1). The LFCN SSEP was tested by stimulating the anterolateral thigh and recording the evoked potentials over the somatosensory cortex. An increase in latency and/or decrease in SSEP amplitude may be indicative of LFCN dysfunction. At present, data on five patients was recorded. Post-operative evaluation of the front of the iliac crests is performed and the appearance of redness (Figure 2), blisters or pressure sores are documented. Additionally, after surgery, the patients were asked if they feel any numbness on the front of the thighs and manual tests for sensation were performed every day until discharge.

Anaesthesia for surgical correction of scoliosis with spinal cord monitoring--a case series.

OBJECTIVE To share our experience of anaesthetic management of scoliosis with intra-operative somatosensory evoked potential monitoring and wake up test. METHODS All the cases of scoliosis surgery scheduled during a period of two years in which SSEP and intra-operative wake-up test was planned were included in the study. The patient in which intra-operative wake-up test was not planned were e...

Diagnostic Accuracy of Combined Multimodality Somatosensory Evoked Potential and Transcranial Motor Evoked Potential Intraoperative Monitoring in Patients With Idiopathic Scoliosis.

STUDY DESIGN Systematic review. OBJECTIVE The aim of the study was to determine the predictive value of combined multimodality somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) and transcranial motor evoked potential (TcMEP) monitoring in detecting impending neurological injury during surgery for idiopathic scoliosis. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA The diagnostic of motor evoked potential monitoring and SS...

Spinal cord monitoring during operative correction of neuromuscular scoliosis.

We report our experience of the monitoring of spinal somatosensory evoked potentials in 60 patients with neuromuscular scoliosis. In 15 cases a significant change occurred in the trace when a sublaminar wire was tightened. There were no postoperative neurological deficits attributable to the surgery.

Segmental vessel ligation in patients undergoing surgery for anterior spinal deformity.

Segmental vessel ligation during anterior spinal surgery has been associated with paraplegia. However, the incidence and risk factors for this devastating complication are debated. We reviewed 346 consecutive paediatric and adolescent patients ranging in age from three to 18 years who underwent surgery for anterior spinal deformity through a thoracic or thoracoabdominal approach, during which 2...

Use of Dexmedetomidine and Ketamine INfusions During Scoliosis Repair Surgery With Somatosensory and Motor-Evoked Potential Monitoring: A Case Report, AANA Journal, December 2010

www.aana.com/aanajournalonline.aspx Dexmedetomidine and ketamine infusions were the main anesthetic for a 15-year-old girl, who underwent scoliosis repair surgery with intraoperative wake-up test, somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP), and motorevoked potential (MEP) monitoring. To achieve maintenance of anesthesia, dexmedetomidine and ketamine were administered concomitantly. The dexmedetomidi...
